Cathedral Concert and lighting of Jackson Square Sunday

The season's first Cathedral Concert at St. Louis Cathedral and the Lighting of Jackson Square take place Sunday evening.

French Quarter Festivals, Inc. rings in the holiday season with the lighting of Jackson Square at 5:45 p.m. and the first Christmas New Orleans Style Cathedral Concert performed by New Orleans Nightingales at the historic St. Louis Cathedral tonight at 6 o'clock. The event is free and open to public.

The New Orleans Nightingales, a diverse group of the best and brightest female singers in the city, bring new life to the musical traditions of early American music through new compositions and vibrant performances.

The Christmas New Orleans Style Concert Series takes place at two of New Orleans' most historic churches, St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square and St. Augustine Church in the historic neighborhood of Treme on Henriette Delille Street (formerly St. Claude Avenue).

The sounds of the season are featured throughout the month of December with jazz performances, gospel choirs, classical ensembles, and more.

All Christmas New Orleans Style Cathedral Concert Series are free and open events to the public.

Visitors and locals can also enjoy the Christmas New Orleans Style Concert Series at St. Augustine Church, the oldest African American Catholic church in the United States. Concerts at St. Augustine take place the first three Saturdays in December. Concerts begin at 4 p.m. and last approximately one hour.
