'Several people' detained in Le Beau mansion fire investigation
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office says it has detained "several people" in connection with the three alarm fire that destroyed the Le Beau Plantation house overnight.
The fire reduced almost the entire structure to cinders. Only the four chimneys, still attached to their fireplaces, remained standing Friday morning, and St. Bernard Parish Fire Chief Thomas Stone wasn't sure how long even that would last.
"We have a collapse zone set up because of those large chimneys," Chief Stone told WWL-TV. "We're going to...call (ATF) and the state fire marshal...to get their assistance along with the fire department and sheriff's department investigators."
