Saints O faces test from San Fran D

The Saints offense faces a much tougher test this week when San Francisco brings their stout defense, but will it be so stout against Drew Brees and company?

The 49ers defense is in the top ten overall after nine games this season, and top five in fewest points allowed. But these fans think the Saints can put a glitch in those stats.

"If Drew's got his A-game going, we should be fine," one fan said.  "I'm thinking we'll be fine."

"They're front line is not really getting a push like they had last year," another said.  "I think if we come out running the ball like we did last week with Mark Ingram and (Darren) Sproles, I think we have a pretty good chance."

Listen to Saints fans talk about the upcoming game with the 49ers:

The Saints are second in the league only to the Denver Peyton Mannings in total points and points per game, so Sunday's game at the Superdome presents an "irresistible force meets immovable object" scenario. It could mean a close game, maybe decided by a field goal.  Does Saints kicker Garrett Hartley's recent slump concern fans?

"Since he's playing in a dome, hopefully he comes out with his head on his shoulders right this week," one said.

"He's still young, we'll give him some time," said another.

Or the Saints could opt to go for it more often on fourth down, a proposition that got mixed reviews:

"Dealing with Sean Payton?  Yeah, I'd just go for it," one fan laughed, but others were a little skittish about the coach's play calling in those situations.

"No, 'cause Sean Payton makes some horrible...calls on fourth down," another said.  "No!"

It seems some folks can't shake the memory of that end-around call to the backup tight end against the New York Jets.

Saints fans on kicking vs. going for it:
