President Obama coming to New Orleans

The White House has confirmed that President Obama will visit New Orleans on Friday, November 8, for a discussion on the economy.

It's reported the president will address exporting goods from the Port of New Orleans, and measures to grow the economy and create jobs by increasing exports.

It will be Mr. Obama's first visit to Louisiana since September 2012, when he met with families and local officials dealing with Hurricane Isaac flooding.

Governor Bobby Jindal has also invited the president to visit Baton Rouge. The governor had previously invited Mr. Obama to visit with scholarship students and their parents.
The governor said he'd like President Obama to explain why the U.S. Department of Justice is challenging Jindal's program to expand the use of vouchers to pay some of the tuition costs at private schools for some students attending schools graded C, D and F.

Jindal issued a statement critical of the Obama administration's handling of the voucher legal challenge last week.

Louisiana politicians and business leaders, including Greater New Orleans Inc., also hope to discuss changes in the National Flood Insurance Program that are leading to dramatic increases in the price of flood insurance policies.

More details on the president's visit are expected to be released by the White House as they become available.
