Threat of severe weather during trick-or-treating

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the Northshore with a cold front moving into the region more quickly than in earlier forecasts.

The Southshore has been removed from the watch area.

"The tornado watch is in effect until 7 o' clock this evening," Channel Four Meteorologist Carl Arredondo says. "Get your trick-or-treating done as early as possible."

He says there is a threat of severe weather for several hours.

The National Weather Service says, "The main threat will be damaging wind gusts, but an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out. At least a portion of the area will likely be impacted during peak trick-or-treat hours, so stay alert before venturing out to any Halloween festivities!"

The weather service made the above graphic.

Rain could linger into the morning hours with sharp drops in temperatures for the weekend.
