Dave Cohen Reporting
Cops are looking for a driver they say hit and killed a man on the I-10 last night.
"New Orleans Police Department's Fatality Section is investigating a fatality that left a 43-year-old Alabama man dead," Officer Garry Flot said in a news release. "The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 P.M., on I-10 westbound before the Chef Menteur Highway exit ramp."
Flot says the man was walking on the highway.
"The man was crossing the Interstate on foot when he was struck by one or more vehicles that fled the scene. The man died on the scene," according to the officer.
He says they know from evidence on the scene what type of vehicle was involved.
"Detectives found the passenger's side mirror and parts of a Ford SUV on the scene." Flot explained.
He says they could tell that the SUV's front passenger's side received heavy damage.
