Jefferson Parish voters overwhelmingly approved the renewal of a trio of tax propositions Saturday which parish leaders said were essential to maintain the parish's water and sewerage systems and enhance the public school system.
The same renewals were rejected in the spring, when the 10-year tax extensions shared the same ballot as the Crescent City Connection tolls.
The school tax millage passed by some 7,000 votes, or 63 percent. The tax makes up about 5 percent of the school system's annual budget.
The water millage passed with 71.5 percent of the vote, while the 3.58-mill sewerage tax passed with 71.2 percent of the vote.
Elections officials estimated voter turnout at about 10 percent.
