New Orleans hoping to make 2018 Super Bowl shortlist

Who will get to bid on Super Bowl LII?  NFL owners are meeting today and will decide on a short list of cities who get to compete for the big game in 2018.

"We're looking to get a Super Bowl," said Stadium Commission Chairman Ron Forman.

He says New Orleans tricentennial should include a celebration of sports.

"The 300 year history of the city of New Orleans, without a story on sports and what it means to our city, it would be a missing story."

Mayor Mitch Landrieu has said he wants the city to host the 52nd Super Bowl as a part of the tricentennial to show the world that New Orleans will have fully recovered from Hurricane Katrina.

Foreman agrees, "When you look at the rebirth of our city... it's probably the biggest urban renewal."

The cities selected to compete will present actual bids in May.

Indianapolis, Miami, Tampa, Dallas and Minneapolis are among the others hoping to bid.
