Front delivers cooler air!

A cold front has dropped temperatures across Southeast Louisiana.

"We have that breeze, we have that cooler air.  It feels great... I mean this is really nice," said WWL TV Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford.

After morning lows in the mid 50's on the Northshore and mid 60's south of the lake, she says we will stay mostly in the 70's today and tomorrow.

"A couple of spots may scrape 80... most of us will top out in the upper 70's," Cranford forecasts.

State Climatologist Barry Keim tells us this cooler air came a long way to get to Southeast Louisiana.

"The cool air now descending upon Louisiana actually originated on the north Pacific Ocean, passed over the Rocky Mountains, and is now being passed on Louisiana... and boy is it welcome," Keim insisted.

Cranford says later in the week mid to upper 80's will return.

Meanwhile, with the demise of Tropical Storm Karen, there is nothing of concern now in the tropics.

"We are looking nice and quite for a while," Cranford said.

She remarked that long-range models show no threats to the Gulf Coast developing anytime soon.
