Cops: Armed robber demands sandwich

Baton Rouge Police have arrested a 29-year-old man after he allegedly walked into a Subway sandwich shop near the LSU campus with a gun and demanded the employees make him a roast beef sandwich.

Corporal L' Jean McKneely says the incident happened Wednesday morning at a Subway location  in the 4200 block of Burbank Drive.

"He pulled out a hand gun and demanded a sandwich," McKneely says.
McKneely says the man never demanded money.

Cops arrested Daniel Hobdy soon after he fled the sandwich shop, still in possession of the gun.

McKneely says officers were able to get him to surrender peacefully.

"When the call was put out they had responding officers that were close by, along with LSU P.D. that assisted. They made contact with him several blocks away after they got the description of the suspect," McKneely said.
McKneely says Hobdy does not have any criminal history that he is aware of, but "he might be mentally challenged," McKneely said.
No injuries were reported and Hobdy faces armed robbery charges.
