JPSO: Man died in bar fight over pool table

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the early-morning death of a man at a sports bar.

Police say the victim, 40-year-old Andan Anwar, got into an argument with a man at about 4:00 a.m. over the use of a pool table at JR’s Sports on Veterans.

According to a department spokesman, a friend of the man arguing with the victim “walked over and punched Anwar on the jaw, knocking him to the floor.”

Police say they have identified the puncher as 37-year-old Aaron Ullich of Metairie.  According to investigators, Ullich was arrested a short time later and booked with one count of manslaughter.

Detectives say Ullrich admitted to punching the victim.
