Children shot, one critical, NOPD looking for suspects

Two eleven-year-old children were among the victims in an overnight shooting in New Orleans.

"A family was inside of a home... when the suspect(s) approached and began firing into the house," Officer Garry Flot said in a news release.  "Two 11 year old females and a 38 year old male  were struck by gunfire."

Flot says it happened in the 1300 block of General Ogden Street, near River Road and the Jefferson Parish line.

One of the little girls suffered serious injuries.

"One of the females was struck to head. She is at the hospital in critical condition.  The other female was struck to the arm," Flot said.

The adult who was shot suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and the injuries are described as not life threatening.

Flot says no one else was injured.

"Another adult female and child were inside of the house and were not injured."

Detectives are trying to figure out who opened fire on the home and why.
