WWL's David Blake recovering from injury

Many listeners have been asking about WWL Morning News Anchor David Blake.  He has been off the air for several weeks.  We thank you for your concern.  David has suffered an injury and is recovering.  We hope he is back on the radio soon.

"In the blink of an eye, life has a strange way of turning your world upside down," David said.  "I twisted my ankle in a parking lot and went straight down, hard."

David broke the ankle on one leg and the kneecap in the other side.

"After arriving in the emergency room I learned that the damage was more extensive than I could have ever imagined. One broken kneecap on my left leg and a double break on both sides of my right ankle," he explained.

David needed surgery "involving a series of screws, plates, and wires."  He is now in rigorous physical therapy.

"I'm facing a very slow and deliberate recovery before I am cleared to be able to walk again," David said.

David says he wants to get back on the air as soon as he can.

"I terribly miss my radio family and cannot wait to get back into early morning action. Thank you all for your prayers, well wishes, and kind words of support."

David has been with WWL Radio for some 25 years.
