People were calling police this morning amid fears of a shooter on the loose on the Northshore. Social media also filled with posts about a possible incident at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington.
St. Tammany Sheriff's Captain George Bonnett says there is no cause for alarm.
"No there's not. Lakeview Regional Medical Center had an internal drill this morning testing some of their emergency response procedures," he explained.
Bonnett says the exercise caused a flood of calls to 911.
There was no public announcement of the drill before it began.
"Everything is ok at the hospital," he assured. "We are working with them now, and it is just a drill."
An official from the hospital says they did notify and work with authorities prior to the exercise.
