NOPD: Canal street thief swipes 2 Rolexes valued at $75,000
The NOPD is asking for the public's assistance in finding a suspect who allegedly ran out of a store with two rather expensive Rolex watches.
Investigators say last Tuesday, August 7, the man (above) entered the Jack Sutton Fine Jewelry store located at 365 Canal Street. The store employee later told cops the man said he wanted to give a Rolex as a gift. As the sales associate was showing the watches, the suspect reportedly asked if he could compare two watches.
According to NOPD Officer Gary Flot, "The sales clerk gave the man both watches, which were placed onto his wrists so he could compare them. Once both watches were on his wrist, he ran out of the store and was able get away with both watches."
Flot says the stolen watches were a Rolex Submariner oyster bracelet with blue dial and blue bezel, valued at $34,250.00 and a 1998 Rolex platinum with day and date valued at $42,000.
Anyone with information on the suspect and/or the crime is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-111.
