Power outage around the Superdome

Entergy reports problems with several underground cables near the Superdome.

The company says on its website, "Multiple underground cables have failed.  Our crews are on site making repairs."

The outages have left the Entergy Building without electricity, but Superdome officials say all their electricity appears to be on at this time.

Entergy's map (above) shows the outage in the area immediately around the Dome.

A spokeswoman says the only building impacted is the Entergy Building.

The website estimates power will be restored around 5:30pm.

Word of the outage raised fears that there could be a problem at the Dome.  Entergy says there is no threat to the Superdome.

The last time a game was played in the Superdome was the Super Bowl, in which the electricity went out for nearly half an hour.
