Cops: Northshore burglar made it easy to ID him

Northshore cops say a man who allegedly broke into a Mandeville store early this morning, made it pretty easy for police to figure out he was the burglar.

"Shortly after 4:00am this morning Mandeville Police responded to Gunfighter Paintball 1860 North Causeway Approach in Mandeville on a burglary alarm," Lt. Gerald Sticker said in a new release. "The responding officers discovered the glass shattered in the front door and a large brick lying on the floor just inside the business."

He says they quickly identified a suspect in the theft of a paintball gun valued at $1,200.00.

"Quick investigative work by the patrol officers revealed that a certain individual, later identified as 23-year-old Christopher Holden... had called the store on the previous day inquiring about the same specific gun and then eventually arrived in person under the pretense of potentially buying it," according to Sticker.  "Store phone records as well as surveillance video helped to identify Holden as the perpetrator."

They called the suspect, and say he came in for questioning.

"In short order Holden confessed to the burglary and turned over the stolen property," Sticker said.  "He was promptly booked with the business burglary and possession of stolen property before being transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail."
