Video: Man arrested after going onto field at Saints practice

A man has been arrested at Saints training camp after kicking a barricade and going onto the field, apparently to tell the team what they have to do to win.

Another fan, Roy Griffin, says he saw it all happen.

"He just said, 'I'm tired of them losing, I'm going in there to talk to somebody,' " Griffin told WWL First News.  "One of the Saints managers... kept pointing telling him he needed to get behind the barricades."

He says security then came over.

"He resisted, they started throwing punches and got him on the ground."

Griffin says the angry fan appeared to be intoxicated.  JPSO deputies working security at the event subdued and arrested the man.  He did not come in contact with any players or coaches.

Following practice, Saints defensive end Junior Galette mused about why a fan would try such a stunt.

“I didn’t get to see it but the guy didn’t even make it to the field so we’ve got some tight security out here,” Galette said. “Fans, I guess, drinking and it’s hot out here. I don’t what was going through his head. He just had too much booze."

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's spokesman Colonel John Fortunato identifies the man arrested as 59-year-old David Mobley.  He is from Houma.

"Mobley was arrested this morning around 10:41 by members of the JPSO assigned to the New Orleans Saints Training Camp facility after he walked onto the practice field without authorization," Fortunato said in a news release.  "When the detail officers were first made aware of Mobley's presence on the field, they approached him and attempted to escort him from the area.  Mobley became combative and following a brief struggle was placed under arrest.  He was subsequently booked into the JPCC with one count each of Remaining After Forbidden, Resisting Arrest and Battery on a Police Officer."
