Report: Man shoots up Covington law office, kills self

Police say a suspect fired as many as 80 bullets into a law firm on the Northshore today.
It was just after 1:00pm that cops got the call to an office near the courthouse in downtown Covington.
"In reference to a subject firing weapons into a law office at 816 North Columbia Street," Capt. Jack West told WWL First News. "He started shooting into the parking lot, went into the office and continued firing."
West says when officers arrived, they were able to get into the building and find a woman who had been hiding in the law firm.
"We escorted her out," West said. She was not injured and had been alone in the firm when the shooting started.
As the moved through the building, they found the alleged shooter.
"They found one subject deceased. The coroner has told me that the deceased subject died from a self inflicted gunshot wound," West explained.
The owner of the law firm, Tim Upton, tells WWL TV the shooter was a former client.
