Hunting hounds hope for new homes

Animal rescue groups today are working to find homes for more than a hundred Brittany hunting dogs.  Lafourche Parish authorities seized the dogs after their owner, Chris Michot of Thibodaux, was convicted of animal cruelty and didn't give them up.

"The dogs were then transported from Mr. Michot's property in Thibodaux to the Raceland ag facility," said Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Brennan Matherne.

The National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network says it will try and find good homes for all healthy dogs. American Brittany Rescue says the breed is noted for being relatively easy to train and being good family dogs, as long as they get plenty of attention and exercise.
