Hollywood South brings explosions and gunfire to New Orleans CBD



You may hear or see thing blowing up and getting shot in downtown New Orleans today and tomorrow.

"On Thursday, July 25th through Friday, July 26th, a production company will be filming scenes near Gravier Street and Picayune Alley and near Gravier Street and Camp Street," the Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy said in a news release.  "On both Thursday and Friday, from approximately 7am to 9 pm, filming will involve simulated gunfire and special effects explosions.  New Orleans law enforcement and fire personnel will be on location to monitor safety."

Officials say there could also be traffic disruptions from time to time in the area.

"Uniformed officers will provide intermittent traffic control during filming hours on Camp Street at Poydras Street and on Gravier Street at Camp Street."

The city did not say which movie is filming, but the state says the following projects are in production or preparing to shoot in and around New Orleans:

MGM/Spyglass feature film Hot Tub Time Machine 2 starring Chevy Chase is wrapping up filming in New Orleans
The independent feature film American Heist starring Hayden Christensen and Akon filming until July 26th in New Orleans
The feature film Black & White starring Kevin Costner will shoot in New Orleans July 15th through August 16th
Fox television series American Horror Story: Coven will shoot July 23rd to January 2014 in New Orleans
Warner Bros. feature film Focus, starring Will Smith will shoot September 16th to November 15th in New Orleans
CBS Studios pilot and series Ravenswood will shoot August 12th through November 20th in New Orleans
End Game Entertainment’s feature film Selfless will shoot September 16th for 10 weeks in New Orleans
CBS Studios television series Star-Crossed will shoot August 14th through December 12th in New Orleans
