Low crime cited as reason NOLA tops 'best cities' list

Another list has New Orleans near the top, but the reasoning is surprising
New Orleans at the top of a new 'best list' is becoming more and more common lately, and this time the city comes in at number three on the "Best Cities to Work, Play and Sleep Easy" list, which cites a low crime rate as one of the reasons people should consider moving here.
The authors at CreditDonkey.com started trying to figure out what are the top cities to live, but decided to break it down further into the three categories, and with the low unemployment rate locally New Orleans ranks high for best places to 'Work.'
And with so much recreational activities, the city naturally got a high rank in the 'Play' portion of the list. "Lots of entertainment! That was really the big one for New Orleans. And that can be anything from arts museums, recreational facilities, all that's included in the data gathered from the Census Bureau," says research analyst Lauren Ward.
New Orleans has a low crime rate she says, which helped it rank high in the 'Sleep Easy' section, although she did cite the city's higher than average murder rate. "But when you look at crime," it's relatively low Ward says, "And the data we used is preliminary data from the FBI for 2012."
Virginia Beach, Virginia and Richmond, Virginia took the top two spots.
