Renaissance of Carrollton Avenue is nearly complete

The renaissance of Carrollton Avenue includes much more than the new Costco, which is scheduled to open at the end of the summer, and some of the new chains that have been opening enmasse in Covington, Elmwood and Metairie are now showing up in the city.

Panera Bread, Five Guys burgers and Pei Wei will all be available at the end of the month when the new Mid-City market opens on North Carrollton.  "That is the area that did include a strip mall previously, with a daiquiri shop in front, and also the old Bohn Ford site on North Carrollton," says New Orleans City Councilmember Susan Guidry.

It's a 38 million dollar development with 300 new full and part-time jobs Guidry says, "And Costco is about a $45 million dollar development, so we're talking a lot of money going in with construction jobs and then permanent jobs."

The city now seems to be attracting chains that see enough opportunity to make long term commitments.

Office Depot and Pink Berry will also be opening in Mid-City Market, which opens at the end of the month.
