7 shot, 5 killed in bloody 24 hour stretch in New Orleans area

Seven people, incuding a 2-year-old caught in the crossfire of a shooting, were hit by bullets this weekend in six separate incidents.  

Here is the rundown of the shootings and deaths from our partners at WWL-TV:  

2800 block of Mt. Kennedy Drive, Marrero - A 2-year-old is fighting for his life after he was shot outside his apartment complex on Mt. Kennedy Drive in Marrero.  He was last listed in critical condition.

The child and his mother got out of a vehicle and were walking to their apartment complex when shots rang out, according to deputies. Detectives do not believe they were the intended victims.

2012 Manhattan Boulevard, Harvey - The most recent happened at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in Harvey.  Deputies say a fight inside Pandora's Place Bar on Manhattan Boulevard led to a shooting.

Officials say Ricardo Sosa was shot three times and died at the hospital.  Investigators have not yet identified a suspect.

500 Commerce Street, Gretna - Then at 2:30 a.m. in unincorporated Gretna, deputies responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Commerce Street.  The person who called 9-1-1 said she heard at least five shots.

Deputies said that when they arrived, they found an unidentified man lying in the street. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

3100 Baronne Street, New Orleans - Just before midnight in New Orleans, there was a double shooting in Central City.  Officers say they found a 43-year-old man lying in the street near Eighth and Baronne. He died at the scene with a gunshot wound.  Investigators say someone drove the other victim, a 37-year-old man, to the hospital. He was treated for a gunshot wound to the hip.

2500 S. Roman Street, New Orleans - Then an hour earlier, around 11 p.m. Saturday, police say someone shot and killed a 35-year-old man.  The unidentified victim was found lying on the corner at Second and S. Roman streets. He had been shot multiple times and died at the scene.

Investigators say they found drugs on the victim.

1400 St. Anthony Street, New Orleans - And then just after 7 p.m. Saturday in the Seventh Ward, officers responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of St. Anthony Street.  They found a 21-year-old man dead inside a vehicle. He had been shot in the chest.

Officials have not released information about suspects or motives in any of the shootings.
