Former Tulane player Mackey found not guilty of armed robbery

A New Orleans jury today found former Tulane standout Trent Mackey not guilty of orchestrating an armed robbery of a co-worker at an Uptown apartment near campus.

Police arrested Mackey in July of last year in connection with a home invasion and robbery.  Prosecutors and investigators alleged that Mackey set up the robbery and then pretended to be a victim of the crime.

A suspect already convicted of the robbery testified that he lied to police to pin the crime on Mackey.

Mackey had transferred from Duke and was a red-shirt senior at Tulane, and had been selected as the preseason Defensive Player of the Year in Conference USA.
