Lower gas prices
Motorists are seeing some relief at the pump during 4th of July travels. Gas prices in Louisiana have fallen five cents from last week.
That's according to Patrick Dehaan with GasBuddy.com. He says the current statewide average for a gallon of regular is $3.27. Last week it was $3.32.
Dehaan says gasoline inventory in the United States is 10% higher than it was a year ago and, "combined with lackluster demand because of the continued high prices, this had led to lower prices."
He believes the downward trend will continue through the fourth of July weekend.
Dehaan says after this week, gas prices typically become more volatile the further we get into hurricane season.
"We're not really expecting any significant bump ups in price, unless a major storm could strike leading to outages at refineries," he explained.
