The New Orleans Police Department says a double shooting in a Baronne Street hotel has left one man in critical condition and another man in jail on several charges. Cops say the shooter also hit his own girlfriend while opening fire on the victim.
Officer Gary Flot says the shooting happened this morning around 9:00 a.m. during an argument between two men at the Wyndham Garden Baronne Street Plaza hotel. Investigators say one of the two men pulled a gun and shot the other man several times. The gunman also struck his own girlfriend in the foot during the shooting, according to police.
The alleged shooter is identified as 29-year-old Kevin Cahill of New York. He and the girlfriend were apprehended after fleeing the scene, according to detectives. He has been booked on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, principal to narcotics, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Cahill’s 27-year-old girlfriend Sara Mott, also of New York, will be booked with second degree battery once she is released from the hospital, according to the NOPD.
The 49-year-old male shooting victim, a resident of Florida, remains in the hospital in critical condition.
