Notre Dame negotiating to play home game at Superdome
WWL's Mike Conti Reporting
Officials at the University of Notre Dame say negotiations are ongoing to play a 2012 home football game at the Louisiana Superdome.
"It's something we're working on," said Notre Dame Sports Information Director John Heisler. "But, a contract has not been signed."
If an agreement can be reached, it's expected Notre Dame would play Baylor at the Superdome sometime during the 2012 season.
Though Notre Dame has made several appearances at the Sugar Bowl, this would be the Fighting Irish's first "home" game played in New Orleans.
Notre Dame has a tradition of playing road and neutral site games at NFL stadiums, including traditional games against Navy at Baltimore and New York. The Irish are also reportedly close to an agreement to play a series of games against the University of Connecticut at Gillette Stadium outside of Boston, and are also expected to play Washington State in San Antonio.
