Northshore fire officials say lightning hit a house and set it on fire.
"St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to a residential structure fire at 205 Camborne Ln. in Slidell," Chief of Fire Prevention Chad Duffaut said in a news release. "The tenants were home when they heard a loud boom that shook the house. A short time later the house began to fill with smoke."
He says while crews arrived in less than ten minutes and had the blaze under control with 21 minutes, there was significant damage.
"Half of the residence received heavy fire damage with light smoke damage throughout the rest of the home," according to Duffaut. "The fire started in the attic and eventually broke through the roof above the kitchen."
In all, 27 firefighters responded.
"The blaze was caused by a lightning strike," said Duffaut. "No injuries were reported."
