Mandeville cops have arrested ''Mr. Move''

Police in Mandeville have arrested the owner of a moving company for allegedly extorting a client.

"The victim reported that her previous quote of approximately $700.00 was raised to over of $2000.00 without any justification and only after the movers secured her property on their truck,"  Lt. Gerald Sticker said in a news release.

The woman employing Mr. Move said the company refused to give her belongings to her until she paid the additional $1300.00.

Sticker said, "After reviewing the facts and conducting an extensive back-ground investigation, detectives deemed this incident to be criminal in nature as opposed to a mere civil dispute over a bill for services rendered."

Company owner Dunwoodie McDuffie is charged with extorting the woman.

"Extortion carries a penalty of 1-15 years," according to Sticker.

McDuffie faces another charge that could get him an additional five years behind bars.

Mr. Move is located at 3725 Airline Drive in Metairie.

Sticker says they believe the company has committed similar crimes in the past and urges potential victims to call police.
