Couple arrested in Covington stun-gun robbery

Covington police say a man and woman have been arrested and charged in a stun-gun attack on a female victim earlier this week.

According to investigators, the victim was attacked and robbed in the 400 block of Kirkland Street at about 5:00 p.m. Monday just after getting off work.  According to the victim, she was walking to the parking lot across the street from her business when a black male got out of a vehicle and asked her for directions.  The suspect then shocked her with a stun gun, grabbed her purse, and fled in the vehicle with another person.

After requesting the public's help in identifying the attackers, police say they received tips that helped identify the perpetrators as a couple from Hammond.

Officers from State Police, the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office, and the Hammond Police Department yesterday apprehended 22-year-old Kentrell Rajon James and 23-year-old Bobbi Jean Porter

Investigators say Bobbie Porter was the driver of the getaway vehicle.  She has been charged with being a principal to an armed robbery.

Today, Kentrell James was formally arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Officers say that during the booking process, James "stated he had been awake for five days on meth when he attacked the woman."

Porter told officers she bought the electronic stun gun used in the robbery.
