Judge orders Northshore coroner to hand over records
Dave Cohen Reporting
A judge in Baton Rouge has ordered St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Peter Galvan to turn over documents.
The court says the coroner must give thousands of pages to the legislative auditor.
Galvan has refused to comply with earlier demands for records from St. Tammany Parish officials and others. A judge, however, can throw Galvan in jail on contempt charges if he refuses to follow the court order.
Galvan is under investigation amid reports he bilked the taxpayers out of money he allegedly spent on vacations, lavish meals and other personal expenses. Galvan also claimed to be on the clock at times when he was allegedly away from the office and even overseas.
