Three overnight murders in New Orleans

The NOPD is investigating three separate murders that took place in less than four hours overnight.

New Orleans police say a 29-year-old woman was killed in a shooting Friday night in Algiers.

It happened about 8:40 p.m., in the 1200 block of Horace Street, at the intersection of Horace and Lamarque Streets.

Police say the victim was found lying on the ground, with several gunshot wounds. She later died at the hospital.

Detectives are looking for a black Nissan Titian pick up truck that witness say fled the scene.

The NOPD is also investigating two fatal shootings that left a 37-year-old man dead in Central City and a 20 -year-old man dead in the Florida area.

At approximately 12:21 a.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Fourth and South Galvez Streets. They found the 37-year-old man lying in the grass suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Just one minute later, police got a report of a male shot in the 5100 block of Congress Street. Officers located the 20-year-old man lying on his front lawn suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for these incidents, as well as a motive.
