Woman wanted as part of New Orleans gang indictment surrenders

New Orleans Police say a suspect wanted in connection with a massive gang indictment has turned herself in.

According to the NOPD, Ja'on Jones, of the 110'ers gang, surrendered to authorities at Central Lock-Up with her attorney Friday evening.

Jones was part of the racketeering indictment announced by authorities Thursday.

The multi-agency investigation links 15 members of the New Orleans gang to several murders, including the shooting death of a Central City toddler.

5-year-old Briana Allen was killed by gunfire while playing at her cousin's birthday party on Simon Bolivar last spring.

The multi-agency gang unit had tracked down four of the alleged suspects that killed Briana and 33-year-old Shawanna Pierce. The afternoon shooting also injured three other people.

Authorities say one suspect, Joshua Pittman, is still at large. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
