LSU drops 1st game of the series to Texas A&M

How it happened: Texas A&M scored two runs in the 7th inning and that's all they needed to beat LSU 2-1. The game didn't end until 12:30 Friday morning. It was scheduled to start at 8 PM, but rain delayed the start for an 1-hour and 49-minutes. Then there were two more short rain delays in the early innings.

On the mound: LSU sophomore left-hander Cody Glenn was the tough luck loser. The Houston native sailed through the first six innings, but ran into trouble in the 7th. In the 7th, Glenn gave up a lead-off single. Then the Tigers committed two consecutive errors. Shorstop Alex Bregman couldn't handle a chopper and third baseman Christian Ibarra had a throwing error on a bunt. Glenn allowed just one earned run in 6.2 innings.

At the plate. LSU had five hits and were retired in order in the final three innings. Bregman had the lone RBI, an RBI double in the 6th inning. Bregman and Raph Rhymes each had two hits. Rhymes batted in the 2nd spot in the line-up for the first time this season. Mason Katz was hit by a pitch twice.

What it means: For the first time this season, LSU lost the first game of the series. But the good news is that the Tigers have their top two pitchers left to throw in the series. Also, hard to take away much from this game. Aggies starting pitcher Daniel Mengden was very good. The two Tiger errors came as the clock struck midnight, fatigue could be to blame.

Up next: LSU looks to even the series on Friday night. Sophomore right-hander Aaron Nola will throw for the LSU. He's 9-0 with a 1.92 ERA. The Aggies will send junior right-hander Parker Ray to the hill. He's 0-1 with a 1.85 ERA. First pitch is at 6:30.
