Cops look for car and clues after murder on I-10

A shooting on the I-10 has left one man is dead and another injured.

"The New Orleans Police Department's Homicide Division is investigating the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man. The shooting occurred this morning around 2:55 A.M., on the Interstate 10 West @ Metairie Road,"  Officer Frank Robertson said in a news release.  "When officers arrived they found the two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds to their bodies inside of a Silver Nissan Maxima."

Robertson says paramedics responded along with police officers.

"Both men were transported to the hospital where the 25-year-old passenger later died while the 23-year-old driver is listed in stable condition," he said.

Detectives are working to figure out what happened and who did it.

"A dark colored vehicle was observed fleeing towards the westbound North Causeway Boulevard exit," according to Robertson.  "Currently, investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) involved in this incident, as well as a motive."

The westbound lanes on the I-10 were closed at Metairie Road for a couple of hours before dawn.
