Police were able to determine that the victim, Shane Vicknair, had been involved in an argument with a male driving a blue Chevrolet pickup truck.
Hours after the murder, the driver of the pickup, 75-year-old Roger Batiste of LaPlace, contacted the Kenner Police Department through his attorney and surrendered himself at the Kenner Police Department.
The gun allegedly used during the shooting was also relinquished by the Batiste's attorney. Batiste has been charged with second degree murder.
Batiste remained in custody at the time of the Kenner Police press release, and no bond had been set.
Motive appears to be a verbal argument that escalated, according to police.
