New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was in an unusual venue for him -- the floor of the state senate.
The coach told the lawmakers it's good to be back, after a nearly year-long exile imposed by commissioner Roger Goodell. Payton mentioned how far the team has come since he took over in 2006 -- recalling a pre-season game that year against the Dallas Cowboys, at Shreveport's Independence Stadium.
"I can recall that there was a little Cowboy contingent there, and I think we're changed that," he said. "I've told (Cowboys owner) Jerry Jones (on) more than one occasion, 'we're going into east Texas, now."
