LSU's Mainieri ejected in loss to Carolina

A record crowd was on hand to see LSU baseball head coach Paul Mainieri get ejected during the loss to South Carolina on Saturday evening.

The Tigers fell to Carolina 4-2.  The school reported 10,246 fans in attendance at Alex Box Stadium, the largest regular-season crowd in school history.

LSU and Carolina will face off in the rubber match at 2:00 p.m. on WWL AM and FM.

“It was a frustrating night, getting 14 hits but scoring only two runs,” Mainieri said, according to  LSUSports.net.  “We got a lead-off hitter on in eight of the nine innings, but we couldn’t capitalize the way we needed to. I thought our guys played their hearts out; we just had some tough breaks go against us and South Carolina has a great ball club. They beat us fair and square tonight, and now we have the opportunity to turn the page and look forward to trying to win this series tomorrow.”
