Some in Jefferson Parish still without power following storms, tornadoes

Several hundred residences and businesses remain without power in Jefferson Parish a day after a line of strong storms brought high winds, flooding rain, and two tornadoes to the area.

At one point on Wednesday, more than 36,000 Entergy customers across New Orleans and Jefferson were in the dark.  Most were restored by early evening, but Entergy's website says some areas in Metairie and Kenner that suffered extensive damage from the storms require a lot more work.

Information from Entergy's website says the company expects to have all customers restored by 2:00 p.m. several utility poles were broken by the storms in the Southlake Villages area and will need to be replaced.

A Houston school district said that 4 teams had to change their mascots because they were offensive to Native Americans. Are we becoming kinder & gentler, or are we too hung up on getting offended?
