They believe he murdered 39-year-old April Vanderlinden yesterday on Brookfield Drive in Ponchatoula.
"Early hours this morning we conducted a thorough search of Brookfield Trace with the assistance of a Customs helicopter where a Thermal Imager was utilized in attempts to locate Pourciau. Area was cleared and he was not located," Chief Dennis Pevey said in a news release.
Because the killing happened near Ponchatoula High School and because the suspect is a student there, children were in lockdown after the shooting.
"TPSO and LSP performed a thorough search of PHS and its perimeter just as a precaution to insure our children's safety even though we had NO information placing Pourciau there," Pevey explained.
He says they have found enough evidence to charge Pourciau
"During the night detectives were able to develop enough probable cause to have an arrest warrant issued for Pourciau for First Degree Murder. Numerous tips are coming in and all will be checked out until Pourciau is taken into custody."
Pevey asks anyone having information on Pourciaus whereabouts to call crime stoppers or TPSO.
