We're just over a month from Memorial Day weekend, and gasoline prices continue to slide. Today in New Orleans, the American Automobile Association's daily survey shows gasoline costing about $3.29 on average, down more than 20 cents per gallon over the past month. How low can it go?
"We could by June see prices at or below three dollars a gallon," said AAA fuel analyst Don Redman.
Redman said the association was worried prices would start going up as the weather turned warmer, bringing more travelers to the pump, but so far that's been avoided.
"For reasons still quite unclear, as to why we saw a big run-up of prices in February, which was a historic move for us, we didn't match last year's high," Redman said. "We only hit about $3.62 a gallon."
