39-year-old Trinette Johnson of Violet is accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from the church since 2006, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
Johnson served as both secretary and account executive for the church. She surrendered to authorities Friday at the parish jail after a judge signed a warrant for her arrest on a felony theft charge.
An investigation was launched by the sheriff's office in response to a letter signed by 33 members of the church, saying church officials wanted to pursue criminal charges because funds were missing.
Johnson is expected to be released on bond set at $10,000.
