Les Miles Vanderbilt Post Game Interview I certainly enjoyed the victory. Winning is the key piece. I think any time you play imperfectly, and you come to the post-game, you have to recognize that first things first. You’d much rather win than do any other thing that we got, so that being said, I think we have to play better.
QB Jordan Jefferson on Vandy Victory As of right now, we’re looking really good. Our defense gave us a lot of opportunities to be on the field. We’re looking to excel week after week. Personally for me, I learned a lot from last week. I thought I did a good job of reading Vanderbilt’s defense and progressing the game plan as much as I could. I’m still learning, though, and still trying to progress as a good quarterback.
Jeff: D steps it up, but O stumbles in LSU win over Vandy Last week it was the defense that LSU fans were complaining about, this week it will be the offense. But at least LSU got the win, beating the Vanderbilt Commodores 23 to 9. LSU had 232 total yards in the first half, with a balanced attack of 122 yards on the ground and 110 through the air. But the second half was a different story as the Tigers could only muster 94 yards of total offense.
No. 11 LSU wears down scrappy Vanderbilt, 23-9 Keiland Williams proved to be enough to power the LSU offense, which has yet to hit high gear. Williams rushed for 72 yards and LSU's only two touchdowns in a 23-9 victory over Vanderbilt on a rain-soaked Saturday night. The Commodores (1-1, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) trailed by only one touchdown midway through the fourth quarter as they attempted to win in Tiger Stadium for the first time since 1951.
Rain could close some parking at LSU on Saturday LSU is warning football fans to arrive early and carpool if possible for the Vanderbilt game. The game is at 6 p.m. CDT Saturday, but continued rain in the Baton Rouge area could affect grassy parking areas that are frequently used for LSU football games.

Purple and Gold faithful invade Seattle More than 10,000 LSU fans have descended upon the Emerald City to watch the Bayou Bengals take on the Washington Huskies. "You will be surprised at how many LSU fans have come all across the country to see their Tigers play. I think it's going to be a lot of screaming Tiger fans," Nella Everett, who made the trip from Crowley, told Seattle's KIRO radio.
Jeff: LSU Gears up for 1st Trip to Washington The Washington Huskies had a miserable season last year. They lost their starting quarterback to a thumb injury in September and finished the season without a win. But LSU Coach Les Miles doesn't want his team to overlook the once proud Pac-10 program.
Miles expects to see improved Huskies in opener Although Washington did not win a game last season, LSU head coach Les Miles says he expects to see a much-improved Huskies squad in both teams' season opener this Saturday night at Washington. Miles said he recalls from his time as an assistant coach at Michigan that he faced Washington in the Rose Bowl and that the Huskies have a long tradition of success.

Last year at this time, Jefferson was trying to learn Gary Crowten's offense and adjust to life away from home. |
Key LSU veterans still out with injuries LSU nears the official end of preseason camp and there's the lingering absence of a handful of veterans. |
LSU's Brandon LaFell now the veteran leader Now that he's the grizzled veteran, Brandon LaFell has a word of advice for LSU's up-and-coming group of wide receiver prospects like highly-touted true freshman Rueben Randle. |
LSU #11 in AP preseason poll As Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators prepare to make a run at their third national title in the last four seasons, the defending champions have already made some history.
LSU veterans praise growth of young QB Jefferson Jordan Jefferson thrives on simple logic. The approach helps LSU's sophomore quarterback exude a calm, confident air that belies his relative lack of experience. "You shouldn't be nervous if you know what you're doing," Jefferson said after practice this week, when he was reminded that he hasn't even made his first start in 92,400-seat Tiger Stadium yet.

LSU's Holliday hopes to get fewer plays off in '09 LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson cracked a dismissive grin at the idea of 5-foot-5 speedster Trindon Holliday picking up a blitzing linebacker. "We're not going to use him in pass protection when he's 170" pounds, Jefferson said after practice this week. At least, that's what Jefferson says now.
