The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at the Behrman Highway restaurant shortly before 10 p.m. They arrived to find the restaurant heavily involved in fire.
There were no customers inside at the time of the fire, but six employees were working.
One employee in the dining area said that a man with a hooded sweat shirt walked in with a plastic gallon container containing a clear liquid. The employee said the man walked to a center booth where he quickly poured the contents over the area and then used a cigarette lighter to start the blaze. The man then ran from the restaurant as it went up in flames. The man's hood was said to have covered his face.
Two employees were in the drive-thru area and the other three employees were in the kitchen during the incident. All six employees escaped safely.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
Twenty-one units carrying 48 firefighters were used to bring this fire under control at 10:46 pm. The New Orleans Police Department and ATF also responded to assist the NOFD with this incident.
The fire is under investigation.
