Police in Covington have arrested two of their own officers.
"Both officers were charged with simple battery and malfeasance in office in connection with the alleged use of excessive force on an arrestee at the Covington Police Department," Captain Jack West said in a news release.
He says the charges stem from four month investigation.
"Investigators with the Covington Police Department concluded the investigation of an incident that occurred in November, 2012. The incident involved inappropriate conduct by two Covington officers. The incident was uncovered in January, 2013 by the Department's Internal Affairs Unit and resulted in the arrest of both men," West explained.
He identified the arrested cops as former Officer Anthony Adams (above, right) and Officer Nicholas Harper (above, left.)
According to West, Adams, who had been employed by the department for four years, resigned when the investigation began. Harper, who has been with the department since June, 2011, remains employed with the department but is on unpaid leave, officials say.
