The Louisiana Lottery says the estimated jackpot for the Saturday night Powerball drawing is up to $216 million dollars. Spokeswoman Kimberly Chopin says this isn't the first time we've seen major jackpots hit this time of year.

"If you'll remember, last March we were looking at a big MegaMillions jackpot that ended up hitting 640 million by the end of March. So we're keeping our eyes on this one."

Chopin says the take home cash payout for Saturday night's drawing is a nice chunk of change.

"We've got a cash value of 132.8 million dollars, and this is the second jackpot over 200 million this calendar year already."

She says there have been 14 powerball winners in Louisiana since the state lottery joined in 1995.

"Our last Powerball jackpot winner was in July 2010, for 85.7 million, so it's time for a big winner in Louisiana."
