Power restored to most Entergy New Orleans' customers

Entergy New Orleans says a Saturday morning power outage affected about 10,000 customers, mostly in the Uptown area.

Some traffic signals were also reported out in the area, on St. Charles Avenue at both Jefferson and Napoleon.

The outage appeared to have started sometime before 6 a.m., and affected parts of Uptown, Broadmoor and Central City: the 70115, 70118 and 70113 ZIP codes.

Spokeswoman Yolanda Pollard says power was restored to most of the customers by about 8 a.m. At that time, about 475 customers were still without service, but were being restored feeder by feeder.

The cause of the outage, was traced to a Napoleon substation. Entergy determined Saturday afternoon that an animal had entered the substation, causing damage that resulted in the outage.
