At one end of 3rd Street between Constance and Magazine is Parasol's Bar and Restaurant, and at the other end is Tracey's Original Irish Channel Bar. In between the two are a whole lot of people having a good time.
So if they're celebrating St. Patrick's Day today, what happens come Sunday when the calendar actually reads March 17?
"We'll be out here again!" said one reveler. "A long, long weekend!"
"Saturday, Sunday, they have a parade Saturday, we'll be out here drinking Saturday," another said.
The same goes for the Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club's annual party at Annunciation Square.
"We have it usually on St. Patrick's Day, but St. Patrick's Day is Sunday, so we have it today," one of the party-goers explained.
Another mentioned there can be other extenuating circumstances that could cause the party to happen ahead of schedule: "If the sun comes up in the east!"
St. Patrick's Day essentially becomes Mardi Gras all over again for the crowd, just with a lot more green.
