LSU beats GA in SEC tourney, faces Florida

Shavon Coleman ripped off 14 of his team-leading 24 points during the second half as the LSU men's basketball team held on for a 68-63 victory over Georgia Thursday to open day two of the 2013 SEC Tournament at Bridgestone Arena.

The Tigers will now take on #1 seed Florida on Friday at noon on WWL AM & FM.

For Coleman, he buried 9-of-11 from the floor highlighted by a career-best four three-pointers. The 24 points also was one point shy of a career-high set during the McNeese State game back on November 13.

LSU (19-11) has won 10 of its last 15 games since Jan. 23. The Tigers advance to face top-seeded and No. 13 Florida Friday in the quarterfinal round. Tip time is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised by the SEC Network along with www.watchespn.com/.

After leading 39-19 at halftime, LSU eliminated Georgia (15-17) despite making on 13-of-28 free throws and watching SEC Player of the Year Kentavious Caldwell-Pope score 32 points.

LSU guard Andre Stringer made his fourth three-pointer with 33.3 seconds to play to extend the Tigers' advantage to five, 66-61, then made two free throws to ice the game with six seconds left.
